La La Land Review by Anthony Brown

An aspiring actress and an ambitious Jazz musician who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love.

But as success mounts, they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fabric of their love, and the very dreams they worked so hard to maintain threaten to tear them apart.
Damien Chazelle, Director of the critically acclaimed Whiplash (2014), returns with his sophomore effort and proves that he is no one-hit wonder.
He is an excruciatingly talented filmmaker who has delivered two of the most intriguing, unique and downright surprising movies of the past decade.

La La Land is like nothing else released in a very long time. This is Chazelle’s love-letter to the Golden Age of Hollywood and its a wonderful throwback that manages to be reminiscent of the kind of movies you’d see lighting up the screen in the 1950’s, but beautifully transported to a contemporary setting.
