For four days from the 25th October, Clarkson, May and Hammond brought their hit motoring show Top Gear to Birminghams NEC.
The event was split into two parts, the "tyre-kicking" motor show most people would be expecting, showcasing some of the biggest brands, and most expensive and luxurious cars money can buy in the main hall, alongside an arena show of epic proportions filled with the kind of mayhem we've all come to expect from the TV show.

Sam Mendes made his name in the cinema with the Oscar-winning American Beauty, but he hasn’t much of a reputation as an action director, so he was a risky appointment to direct a Bond film. I’m pleased to report that he’s delivered one of the finest of all time, just in time to celebrate 50 years of 007 in the cinema.

Double Platinum artist, Newton Faulkner is in the middle of his UK tour following the release of his third studio album, Write It On Your Skin. We at The Phoenix were lucky enough to see him perform live in concert at the O2 Academy in Birmingham.

The first ‘Taken’ was the guiltiest of pleasures, as Liam Neeson’s retired secret agent set about massacring foreign nationals who had kidnapped his teenage daughter. It found an appreciative audience, especially among those who consider killing non-Americans equivalent to exterminating cockroaches.
